Ouch! I'm wicked sore today, but it's ok - the pain's definitely worth it. After much convincing, I went with S yesterday morning to play volleyball on the Santa Monica beach with some of his friends. I hadn't played volleyball since high school - maybe middle school - and I'd never played beach volleyball, but it was so much fun. I spent a lot of time chasing the ball, hitting it behind me, and slamming it way too far onto the other side of the net, but by the end I started to get the hang of it. Of course at that point, I was also exhausted, so I just sort of stared at the ball as it flew over the net onto my side and hoped it would be closer to my teammate so I wouldn't have to hit it.
After an hour or so of this, S and I took a dip in the ocean to cool off and enjoy the waves, which didn't feel nearly as chilly as usual since we were super warm from the sun. S convinced me to swim under one of the bigger waves, which was fun until we both stood up and had lost our sunglasses. Sad! Then there was the sandal incident...

Let's just say that after three attempts of me trying to get the sand off my feet and sandals, I tripped on a piece of board, stumbled into the sand and broke my sandal! S and I just stood there giggling for a minute until he lent me his sandal. Sweet, but I don't think I'm going to win any fashion awards. :)
And lucky for her, she had quite an audience! If I remember correctly, someone sitting at a chair near where this all took place exclaimed, "The whole beach saw that!" Note: only one sandal was harmed in the making of this silly, silly situation. S
