Day 4/5

About to jet off to a Common listening session up in Hollywood and gotta grab some Starbucks on the way (there's some new york habits I still can't quite shake), so I gotta buzz out soon, but here's what's going on! Oh, and it's raining, which is really funny because Los Angelenos have no clue that you gotta bring an umbrella with you when the weather is gross.

update: the Common listening session was awesome. Met the three editors of Filter, and Common took us through each track he had finished on his upcoming record. Can't wait to hear it again.

On the way, I passed the Hustler HQ. Porn is very big in LA. Literally.

Yesterday was slooooowwww. I got my new car, a black Jetta with a sunroof, ipod adapter (gotta get one of those...) and fake leather seats. It feels very fancy, especially since I was used to driving around minivans. I dropped off the rental car yesterday morning and then the guy from the dealership picked me up and drove me back to Santa Monica so I could get my car. I waited for-ev-er to get the darn thing! They were having some problems removing the wax, and I still have to bring it back tomorrow so they can finish. hmph. but the guy and I had a nice chat. He's from the area and was telling me some great places to go to and while waiting for the car we grabbed some lunch at a delicious place that serves damn good mac and cheese. It's called Baby Blues. Yum!

The new car (It does rain here! Just not very often.)

After work, I met up with Z and his girlfriend and headed down to the beach so she could finish shooting a commercial she's entering into an amateur contest. I had to stand there on the beach with a magazine and look like I was trying to catch the last of the light, then look forlorn with Z arrived and we realized there was no more light.

Then we did some roof shots at Z's place before taking a break to grab some dinner at this delicious Mexican restaurant near the house. I think it was called La Cabana, but the more important thing is that their chile relleno and enchalidas are incredibly tasty. Not to mention their patron margaritas!

Here's to new adventures!

By that time it was night, so we headed back to the beach with the camera and secretly filmed some of the light coming out of the beach mansions. hehe. By that time it was getting pretty chilly here on the beach. I know, it's LA, but it's still spring and everyone keeps assuring me it'll get warmer.

When the shooting was done, Z and I headed out to a local watering hole called Saints and Sinners. It sort of looked like what Yaffa's bar would look like if they had one.

Places to check out:

Red Sox bar in Santa Monica
4100 Sunset

I'm going to post pics as soon as my cord arrives so I can do so. A train got derailed yesterday with all of my boxes on it (I hope everyone's ok) so they're supposed to arrive today.
